HPR in partner with IMCC FAIR launched First Aid Initiative Rwanda (FAIR). aims at promoting road safety and first aid in Rwanda with goal  of reducing morbidity and mortality among children and youth due to road traffic crashes in Rwanda.
 
On 15th March, in this week HPR conducted campaign at GS KIMIRONKO 2 that was marked by good attendance around 600 hundred students attended the campaign.

According to WHO about 1.3 million people die on the world's roads and 20 - 50 million are injured every year. Road traffic crashes are a major cause of death among all age groups and the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5–29 years.
The risk of dying in a road traffic crash is more than 3 times higher in low-income countries than in high-income countries.
By taking public health measures and working with local government we truly sure that millions of lives can be saved and injuries prevented with well-enforced road safety laws on speeding,

Every single day children and young people are interacting with the road and traffic system either as a passenger, pedestrian, cyclist or driver. HPR in partner with IMCCFAIR initiated road safety campaign and teaching sessions in secondary and driving schools aims to reduce mortality and morbidity related to road traffic crashes by  preparing and equip this vulnerable road user group with the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes that will enable them to stay safe.

Nearly 1.25 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44. Road traffic crashes rank as the 9th leading cause of death and account for 2.2% of all deaths globally. Road crashes are the leading cause of death among young people ages 15-29. 

The latest data published in Rwanda showed that death rate related to road crashes is 46.59 per 100,000 of population and ranked Rwanda as Third worldwide

Africa Road Safety Week

Road Safety Week runs from November 17th to November 23th. It is an annual event and the biggest road safety awareness event. According to World Health Organization (WHO), rank Road accidents as 8th among the leading cause of death globally, with an estimated 1.2 million lives lost every year. Majority 60 percent of the accidents occur in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Fighting challenge through  palliative care for someone with breast cancer ”

​Breast cancer is abnormal proliferation of breast tissue. Statistics showed that worldwide breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women where 2.1 millions of women each year are affected and It also accounts for 15% of cancer deaths among women.
 In Rwanda 54 out  of 100,000 will develop cancers in given five-years period but rates seem to be rising because breast cancer data is getting more accurate or declines in infectious are allowing women to live longer die of such as cancer.

Health people Rwanda in partner with IMCC FAIR is always campaigning to raise awareness of first aid and road safety because It has found that is a good way to provide people with basic knowledge because even the most simple skills can save a life and also knowing about road safety like follow traffic rules and signs will reduce mortality and mortality related to road traffic accidents.
On Wednesday HPR conducted campaign where students from health club trained by HPR volunteers on previous teaching session showed entire schools what they have learnt.  ​

​Since May 2016 Kigali city organised event called “Kigali Car free Day” which become event that occur twice a month in our city. Every first and third Sunday of  the month has be designated as a day where city residents park their cars to engage in sports, meet their neighbours whilst they protect the environment because of reduced car emissions. It is also aim to promote healthy lifestyle for the residents of Kigali, the City authorities have introduced mass sports and exercises, to encourage people to walk, jog as well as ride bicycles..
