in the world.Without sustainable action, road traffic crashes are predicted to become the seventh leading cause of death worldwide by 2030.Within this week from Monday HPR activities were marked by teaching sessions in two different driving schools (Regional and Nyarugenge driving school). Dr Alice, Dr Marcel and Niyigena Theophile among trained HPR members were present to conduct the teaching sessions in those driving schools. Students enjoyed the session where they learnt about safe behaviors on top of traffic rules, traffic signs that they usually learn in their class, they also got a demonstration on benefits of using helmet and problems of not using it while on motorcycle. in addition they were taught different first aid techniques like basic life support including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adult, first aid in case of bleeding, what to do to an unconscious casualty (recovery Position) that could be used during emergencies and before reaching a health facility.
At the end of the session one of the students in Regional driving schools said “it is my pleasure to be here and to be part of events that brings together to get this training. I thank HPR for the great job they are doing for Rwandan Society. weknow the number of fatalities and injuries on road network but I am quite sure that we don’t know precisely how many lives are saved through this prevention but I am sure that they are many”
After completing teaching sessions in both Regional and Nyarugenge driving schools HPR awarded certificate to the participants and encourage them to give first aid for someone who need it and remind them to follow road rules to stay safe on the roads and spread the knowledge to their colleagues and friends.
