About HPP
The basis to a good life is health. In Rwanda it is necessary to hold health insurance in order to take advantage of the benefits our hospital system otherwise medical treatment is expensive. For those infected with HIV, the key to remaining health, delaying the onset of AIDs and increasing life expectancy is to look after themselves. Suffering from a suppressed immune system, it is key to ensure a healthy diet and regular activity, but also access to medical professionals. We are working with HIV victims who need constant treatment just to stay healthy, yet many cannot afford the costs to obtain a health card. We will make sure each and every one gets a health insurance so they can lead as healthy a life as is possible. The HPR volunteers run teaching sessions and two home visits will be organized each month to teach about key practices which will help them to stay healthy such as hygiene and nutrition.
The project also raises funds to help affected families afford the diet they need and supplement income if they are struggling due to the impact of the disease. The project is also looking to take infected youths off of the streets and provide house. Finally this project seeks to train members of the families we are working with to teach others and ensure knowledge of HIV infection and transmission, along with other infectious diseases is passed along within the community. |
